Hi!
I hope everyone is having a FUN summer and staying cool!
The following is information on Fall classes, the Fall Schedule, Dates to mark in your calendar, and the Christmas Show. Please read ALL this information as some policies and classes have changed.
Great News!! We will have a new teacher at the studio. Ms. Katie will be teaching the younger group classes. Katie danced with me from the age of 3 through high school! She just graduated from K State with a teaching degree and has been working in a pre-school/day care the last several years and will be moving back to Emporia! The classes she will be teaching are marked with an * on the class schedule and of course I will always be at the studio and available to answer any questions.
Navigating the Parent Portal throughout the enrollment process: Your child has been pre-enrolled into the fall 2025 classes based upon the classes they were in this past spring.
DO NOT try to enroll them into any of the fall classes. DO NOT create a new student to try and get them into a class!! This only creates headaches and a possible loss of info!
You may go into your Parent Portal and see the class days/times they have been pre-enrolled in. If your child is continuing with the classes shown - you do not need to do anything!
If you wish to add or drop a class, you MUST contact me via e-mail to let me know what classes to add or drop. I will take care of it for you. Any changes need to be made by July 23rd.
Also, for you to be able to see costumes and post measurements prior to classes actually starting, I have to activate the fall session in my software program. I will be activating the session on July 7th - it will come up on your end that classes are starting this week and tuition is due. Please disregard this notice. Classes will not start until the week of September 2nd and fees are not due until your first class. More info on fees and payment below.
All private/semi-private classes are scheduled through me and some of the students have already chosen their time slots and are shown on the schedule. Those who have not set up a day/time slot will need to contact me via email. (Must be at least 10 years old for private/semi-private lessons). Class times available are shown on the schedule posted on the website: click on Christmas Show in the menu bar, then click class schedule.
All private/ semi-private students need to choose a song and I have a list of approved songs (file attached) that you are to choose from. You will also need to choose a costume. Costume company websites to look at are: Weissmans, A Wish Come True, Revolution dance, Discount Dance, Amazon. Please let me know what you choose (I will need the company name and style number and I need to approve it!) and will let you know the cost.
Pre-Pointe: balance & strength training classes to prepare for pointe work. Several students (Leah C., Andrea D., Sarah Beth P., Madalee F.) have inquired about starting pointe and I have checked their feet to make sure they are a good candidate for doing pointe. Fall classes will be Fridays 6:00 -6:30 p.m. (they are pre-enrolled) and will not participate in the Christmas show. If you cannot attend the Friday group class, you may schedule a private lesson. Students must be 12 years of age to start the pre-pointe class and I must check their feet 1st before you can start the class. Let me know if your child is interested.
All Parents MUST agree to the policies of Sherry's Dance Workshop: At the top of your Parent Portal home page, hover your mouse over information, then click on waivers. Once you have read the policies (please read it's entirety as policies have changed), then click the box by I Agree To The Terms And Conditions.
Christmas Show:
This year’s Christmas production will be “Winter Wonderland”.
Christmas Show Music:
Music for group classes is on the studio website: click on CHRISTMAS SHOW in the menu bar, click on Music to practice with, scroll down to your child class day/time and click on the underlined song name to download the music.
Recital Fee: The recital fee for the Christmas show is $60.00 per student. This fee will be due prior to your first class.
Christmas Costumes: Costume fees AND measurements are due before Sept. 4th and I will need both to get them ordered for you. The costume orders will go in Sept. 6th. Late orders will be charged full shipping/handling fees.
To view your child’s costume: log into your Parent Portal, on left side of screen click on costume icon, click link, you should now see the costume, look for the size chart to help you determine your child’s size needed to order your costume.
Costume Measuring: Parents are responsible for measuring their child(ren) for costumes. Please watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxbVJytK_tk This will help tremendously!!! You will post the size that you would like to order for your child in the parent portal. Log into Parent Portal, on left side click on Costume Icon, click on enter size, click on down arrow and click on size you want, click save. DO NOT email me with measurements. Measurements must be posted through the Parent Portal prior to or upon your first class.
Measuring guidelines:
Bust: measure fullest part of chest
Waist: measure natural waistline
Hips: measure from side view to get fullest part of hips/bum
Girth: MOST IMPORTANT measurement to size with. Start measuring tape at right shoulder, go down front of body, thru crotch, up the back, and to the same shoulder. Make sure they are standing up straight but not raising the shoulders up or slouching the body down.
* Add two inches to the girth measurement to allow for growth.
Write these measurements down.
Reading the size charts: Each company sizes differently, so it is important to look at the sizing chart for each costume.
First: Find the girth measurement size on the size chart. You want your child's girth measurement to be in the lower end of the measurements shown on chart.
Next look at chest, waist, & hip measurements to see if they fall in the lower end of the measurements shown on chart. If so, then that is the size you need to order. If the chest, waist & hip measurements are at the top end or over the measurements on chart then order next size up.
It is best to order bigger than smaller to allow for growing (you know how fast your child grows).
If your childs measurements put them in a child XL, XXL, adult XL, you will be charged a plus size fee of $7.00, Adult XXL or bigger $12.00.
Dance Fees: Dance Fees have increased, please see the Dance Fees page of the studio website.
September fees cover classes held 9/2 - 9/29. You will be receiving your September Dance Statement via separate email. September dance fees, Recital Fees, and Costume fees are due prior to your first class.
